Album: Alexisonfire - CrisisSince the release of Watch Out! [2004] it was hard to imagine Alexisonfire being able to top that record. However, the whole build up to the new record Crisis produced such anticipation, that this album had to top Watch Out! along with their self titled cracker Alexisonfire. Of course, Alexisonfire, did not let us down, and gave us one of the best albums of 2006. Crisis starts off with the song Drunks, Lovers, Sinners And Saints. George’s unmistakable voice jumps in first with ‘Alright!’, soon followed by the roughness of Wade’s voice ‘This is from our hearts’. It’s then, you know this album is going to enfold into something special. With the use of three vocalist’s in Alexisonfire - George, Wade, and Dallas – it’s hard not
to love Crisis. Here, you have George, bringing the anger to the record, followed by Wade, giving off that rough edge, and then you have Dallas, who ultimately makes each song complete with his calm, almost angelic voice. Each song is entirely different from the other. Catchy choruses and spine tingling riff’s is what Alexisonfire are about. The first single from the album Crisis, would be the unforgettable, stick-in-your-head type of song, This Could Be Anywhere In The World. One line that attaches itself to your memory is ‘The city, the city is haunted’, which is repeated throughout the song. Dallas Green and George Pettit send the song on a roller coaster ride, you’d most likely never forget. Every song on the album, is pure genius. Keep It On Wax is just one example of what Alexisonfire are really made of. Rumour has it, the song is actually based on their former drummer and friend, Jesse Ingelevics, and the trouble he apparently caused. The line ‘Oh, what a fucking shame... Oh, that you had to mess things up this bad’, pretty much sums up the situation between Alexisonfire and Jesse. Verdict: All in all, Crisis is an album, you do not want to miss out on. With guest vocals from Gared O'Donnell (Planes Mistaken For Stars) – it’s one of the must-have albums of 2006. I highly recommend it! |
