Jackripper - EP 2007

Album: Jackripper - Jackripper

Hailing from Kokkola, Finland - yes, another Finnish band has found it's way to The Bullet! We definitely have a huge soft spot for this country and it's bands - Jackripper is what you call a rockband in its truest form. Founded in 2004, members Mika Rintala (drums), Janne "Zenna" Pollarikoski (guitar), Tuomas Känsäkangas (vocals) and Topi Myllykangas (bass) created a six track EP to get their music out there. The band is currently unsigned.

With roaring guitars, the band pulls you straight into the first song. With high speed they race you through the six tracks of the EP, wich lasts exactly twenty minutes. This is what you call rock. Think ZZ-top, Aerosmith in their early days, think sunglasses, guitars, cadillacs, route 66, leather jackets and pretty girls. Top it all with a Finnish sauce and accent, and you'll have a pretty good idea of what this band is about.

The Life makes you want to get up and boogie, to stay in rock 'n roll terms. Big Sister opens with a killer guitar-rif, which you will hear throughout the song. Next up is Hey You, another great rock track. This album doesn't get boring! Singer Tuomas shows off his voice in this one. It has a very metal guitarry bit during the chorus. Why'd You Leave Me is the longest song on the album, it's a more melancholic song about being left by your woman. It's followed by the shortest track, Hell Breaks Loose. Master Lover has a cheeky lyric about getting women, women and more women. Great fun!

Verdict: Jackripper promises to blast you away live. This EP is a good introduction of their music, enough to get you interested and it leave you hoping for more.
