Album: Lostprophets – Liberation TransmissionWelsh rockers Lostprophets return with their third studio album Liberation Transmission, following the success of previous albums the fake sound of progress and Start Something. The album debuted at number one in the UK album chart following the success of the first single – Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast), which reached number 8 in the singles chart. Lostprophets have the habit of producing songs that are immediately catchy, energetic and aggressive, and this habit is evident in Liberation Transmission. The first song, Everyday Combat, is trademark LP. With a lot of character similar to that of the 2003 LP hit Burn Burn. This track is the most explosive on the album, with the majority of the remaining 11 tracks more pop punk based than heavy riffs and hard hitting lyrics. In fact, the album seems to get progressively slower and reflective through each track. The songs Can’t Catch Tomorrow and For All These Times Son, For All These Times offer good rock songs whereas 4:AM Forever and the final song Always All Ways are slower poppier alternatives. Combining the sound of 80’s rock as well as being easily comparable to modern rock bands such as Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance, but all the while keeping the album recognisable as Lostprophets, Liberation Transmission is an album where every track could be a successful single, and the Prophets have moved with the times to appeal to a new fan base whilst complimenting the old fans. Verdict: Catchy tunes throughout, but a promising start doesn't continue throughout
the album. A good solid album that won't lose it's charm right away. |
