Album review: The Peppermint Apes – Miracle EPThe Peppermint Apes formed in 2008 and got their start by playing support for a Marc Bolan tribute band. The Peppermint Apes take a lot of their influence from bands like T-Rex and The Beatles, and it’s clear to hear that in their music. There is no exact way to describe them other than as a modern day 60’s/70’s band. For fans of this era of music, here is some new old school. Acoustic guitars, clear sung lyrics and a perfectly timed beat all combine to make The Peppermint Apes a unique sounding tribute to a period of time too many people have forgotten. However, they are by no means a band in the wrong era, they belong here with us because there is defiantly a one of a kind spin on each other their songs that make them so separate from everything else out there. The Peppermint Apes are defiantly going to appeal to a certain range of fans, but I’d like to think they’ll get more of the younger generation to check out bands like T-Rex and The Beatles. Verdict:When you can form a band that represents an iconic period but do it without sounding dated, that’s an achievement, and it’s an achievement The Peppermint Apes have achieved. Well done guys, more of the same please. |
