Life is messy... love is messier

Plot

Before the day of her wedding, Gray Wheeler loses her fiancé to a sudden death. Instead of wearing her white dress and smiling happily at everyone on her day, a funeral is held and she fights back the tears. Not all is lost though. Her fiancés friends take it upon themselves to help her move on. Sam, the wisecracking man whose job is to create quotes on the back of tea boxes, and the ever responsible Dennis make room for Gray at their place since she has nowhere else to go. Also in town and living with them is Flint, the childhood best friend of Gray’s fiancé who’s pegged as the least reliable of the three since he’s the one with the reputation as a playboy.

While getting her act together, Gray starts to discover that the love of her life was keeping more than one big secret from her. First, there’s the bank account with a huge amount of money set aside. When looking into it, Gray finds that there was money being sent to someone. This someone turns up soon enough in the form of a little boy with a quirky mother. In the midst of secrets coming out, love is found again in an unlikely person.

Acting

Refreshing. This is how I will describe this cast. Jennifer Garner is the mourning Gray Wheeler who moves in with the three best friends of her fiancé. Easy to relate to indeed. She does well with portraying a woman trying to keep herself together as her world starts changing. Kevin Smith is loveable in this movie as Sam. He’s the guy you’d love to have around to bring amusement. Sam Jaeger plays Dennis, the responsible guy who keeps his feelings in to keep his friend happy. He’s the guy you go to for advice. Lastly, you’ll fall in love with Timothy Olyphant, who plays Flint. There’s always that one friend who has more to them than meets the eye. Flint’s that mysterious guy in this movie. Beneath the exterior is the real deal.

Verdict: When it comes to dramas, I’m picky. This movie grabbed my interest, pulling me in and keeping me there until the end. I loved the interaction between them. Through the face of tragedy they moved on and put the pieces back together. Want a good drama with romance and comedy? Watch this one!
