Film: Live Free or Die HardTaglineYippee Ki Yay Motherfucker PlotDetective John McClane just can’t seem to get a break. Battling terrorists time after time to save countless lives just doesn’t give him any well deserved credit. And now he’s divorced from his wife with a daughter who can’t stand him. Now living in Brooklyn, John is about to face yet another enemy. The job starts out easy enough: retrieve a known hacker, Matt Farrell, in the area and bring him in for questioning. It seems that there are known computer hackers dying and nobody knows why or what precisely they have all been working. All they know is that somehow someone has been trying to hack the governmental database and all known hackers are top suspects. After a failed assassination attempt on Matt’s life, things are obviously more than they seem. That’s when Thomas Gabriel, former Department of Defense employee, gathers his team of terrorists to systematically shut down the whole United States via computer systems. For what purpose? Can he be stopped? It’s time for John to step in and save the day once again. Add to his problems that Gabriel has discovered about Lucy, John’s daughter, and makes things personal by kidnapping her in anger of John and Matt’s attempts to foil his plans. It’s another action packed adventure with everyone’s favorite detective from the Die Hard series. ActingBruce Willis may be getting on in years, but he certainly does not disappoint. Don’t let his age fool you because action is still very much possible for him. And he’s still quite witty though not as much so as in the other Die Hard movies in my opinion. Willis definitely still has talent! Timothy Olyphant as the villain was a good move. He impressed me with this role in that I always though of him as a pretty boy type of actor. But he stepped and showed he has another side by playing the ruthless Thomas Gabriel who will do anything to beat John McClane. And let’s give a hand to Justin Long, who plays the nerdy computer hacker Matt Farrell. I liked his character. He was witty and ready to pull through when the time came. Start out the scared kid who wants to hide and transforms into a braver type ready to fight. I’m interested to see more from him. Verdict: Awesome movie! I was at the edge of my seat with the crazy stunt action sequences. I cringed as well. No matter how unlikely they seemed, they were great. I liked how the plot this time was centered on how vulnerable using technology can make us if we don’t put up better security. This movie was just nonstop. If you are a fan of the Die Hard movies, then I would say you have to see this new addition. And if you aren’t, it’s still an awesome action packed movie! |
