Film: TidelandTagline"Difficult times lie ahead, Harry." I have not read the book so excuse my ignorance in not being able to compare, for that I apologise. I do like the Harry Potter films, although there was something not quite right with this one. I can’t quite put my finger on it, maybe the whole Harry Potter concept is getting old. On the other hand it is the darkest and most exciting of the films yet! PlotCould it be the loss of innocence? You feel awkward and embarrassed at times for the teenagers going through what can be the hardest times of a person’s life. Not quite adult, not a child, they struggle to find their identities as evil swarms around them. As if the poor kids didn’t have enough to worry about with hormones and peer pressure. The twins stole the show in my book, they pop up everywhere causing trouble and getting there 2 pence in. I like the way the focus is expanding to the characters outside of the trio. There is a rich array of personalities that can develop beautifully in years to come. The games are imaginative and fun, you really do fear for Harry’s life. Poor kid is having a bad year. He only just wins, he doesn’t get the girl, he loses a friend, the dark lord is out and the whole school thinks he is a cheat. I think we all had days like that when we were kids, no? Verdict: A lovely series of films for kids to grow up with. In my day we had Adrian Mole 13 and ¾, now they have Harry. Lets hope he grows into a powerful sorcerer and kicks some arse!!! Sarah |
