Film: Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesTaglineRaising Shell in 2007 PlotOur favorite mutant turtles are back. But things don’t look so good after their victory over The Shredder. The family is falling apart where once it was a strong bond of brothers. Leonardo is in another country trying to become a stronger leader for his brothers. Michelangelo is working as a party entertainer, donning a turtle head to appear as though he’s wearing a costume. Donatello has become one a phone tech for people to call when they have computer problems. And Raphael is out fighting crime at night with Casey Jones. Without Leo, they are without direction. Master Splinter seems to be having trouble trying to control his sons. And now he’s worried when things aren’t as peaceful as they seem. Trouble is brewing in New York. Well known tycoon Max Winters is up to something after retrieving four stone warriors who he revives and enlists to help him capture monsters running loose through the city. It’s time for Leonardo to return and bring order among the turtles so that they can save the city once again from evil. ActingThe voice acting in this movie was decent enough. I liked how they had a couple familiar actors doing voices for the minor characters. Sarah Michelle Gellar joins as April O’Neil, who was recruited by Winters to retrieve the stone warriors and now must join the fight. Evan Smith is Casey Jones, the goofy yet helpful friend of the turtles and boyfriend to April. Mako is Master Splinter, the Zen master and father to the teenage mutants. And then there’s Patrick Stewart, voice of Max Winters. I was wondering about the voices for the turtles. Would they be similar to that of the older versions of them or different? I was pleased that they had the same qualities. Verdict: Although it wasn’t quite like the other movies, I was pleased with the new addition. I was also very pleased with the choice to do an animation. It had a comic-like quality to the artwork that added to the coolness of the film. I also liked how they picked up where the story left instead of doing a remake of the older series or movies. Overall, I would recommend this movie. It’s quite good. I don’t think I’ll ever stop being a turtle fan. |
