Live review: Fall Out Boy in London, UKSupport act: YouMeAtSixWell I must admit I went into this concert not overly thrilled about the concept of seeing YouMeAtSix. Which is what everyone was expecting me to say, because I’m mainly into metal, but for what it is worth, I actually found them more fun live. It’s not often that the very first band on stage gets such a great response from the crowd, but they certainly know how to get a crowd going. Hats off to the boys. I was proved wrong. Support act: Boys Like GirlsOkay, now these guys I was looking forward to. I’m perfectly aware they are a pop-rock band, but yes I like them. They have that extra bit of emotion and uniqueness that most other bands in that genre seem to lack, and those boys could like bring it on stage to. They really got the crowd moving and singing along. When they finished we were more than ready for Fall Out Boy. Fall Out BoyOkay, let’s clear up one thing first. I have heard a lot of things going around like “Fall Out Boy are crap live”. That is a straight up lie. I had my doubts because of all of those rumours, but since they were a big band for me in 2005, I thought what the hell and took the chance. Those doubts are now well and truly buried. I’ve seen live videos of Fall Out Boy and none of them do the band justice. For those of you who watched those videos and thought: “I fancy that actually.” You will be blown away. The boys know how to put on a show. Not only with their music but also with an extremely impressive stage. Guitars covered in lights, intriguing backdrops, sparks and explosions. They sound great live to, Patrick’s voice is just as awesome live as on album if not better in its distinctness, and with the catchy guitars riffs you know you could only be at a Fall Out Boy concert. Now, here is a topic of debate. Pete Wentz. Most girls love him, in fact a few boys love him, but a fair crowd of people have a serious problem with him, saying how he is arrogant and loves himself. I personally don’t have a problem with the guy, though I can see where the hate comes from. He pretty much did all the speaking and interaction with the crowd between songs, which was fine a few times, but it would have been nice to hear a bit more from the other guys as well. What really made this an amazing gig was for me was the fact that, sometimes I didn’t actually feel like a gig (as crazy as that sounds) I felt like I was at a really big party. It just had that kind of atmosphere and I thought that was great. Fall Out Boy, always being far from typical decided to open up a circle, but not for moshing, no, they insisted that anyone who could moon walk make there way to the circle and do Michael Jackson proud as they tore the place apart with the fantastic single Beat It. Verdict: So, what do I draw from all this? Well if you’re a Fall Out Boy fan and your having doubts about seeing them live, just go, you will have an amazing time and see an impressive performance. A Fall Out Boy show is defiantly unique so don’t miss out on them if you get the chance to see the boys. |
