Live: Infadels in Amsterdam, NL

Yes! After six months another Infadels gig, but this time it would be in my all time favourite venue in the Netherlands: Paradiso!

Support act: Moke

Though is was not stated on the ticket, a support act was added. Moke, an Irish/Dutch Britrockband with a bite as they call themselves on their official website (http://www.mokemusic.com). During their performance the Britrock part proved to be right, but where the hell was ‘the bite’? I couldn’t find it. Moke’s music sounds very polished. Too polished, which makes it sound almost fake. Also, each song reminded me of other tracks by other bands. In other words; Moke doesn’t sound very original. The pleasant voice of leadsinger Felix Maginn is what saves this band. Though the music wasn’t that bad I wouldn’t bother to see them again, even if it was free.

Infadels

An Infadels wish come true: playing their beloved Paradiso main stage. At least according to the super energetic frontman Bnann. And play they did! Electric music, atmosphere and energy. Besides tracks from We Are Not The Infadels, the setlist included a new song and a cover; Raconteurs track Steady, As She Goes, which actually sounds better when done by Infadels!

The band was jumping madly on stage and at the end of the gig they were completely soaked with sweat. They gave it all! And so did the crowd. From the second the gig started, right until the very end, Paradiso was shaking from the bouncing people. According to the band we were very very loud and they loved it. They sought a lot of contact with the crowd, addressing us by 'Paradiso, baby!', for which they were very loudly rewarded. The gig didn’t sell out at first, but estimating the size of the audience it did sell out at the door after all. For most an excellent start for a night out.

Unfortunately, the sound and lighting in Paradiso was very poor. The band was in the dark most of the time, with only a little bit of light shining on them. Due to this, taking pictures was virtually impossible. It was hard to hear Bnann singing without ear plugs in, because the rest of the music was too loud in accordance.

Verdict: I love this band and their gigs. It makes you feel so happy and full of energy (at least till the end of the gig). Too bad the sound and lighting in Paradiso sucked the way it did. Just as I said in my review half a year ago: this is a must see, but I can’t wait for more new material.
