Live: lostprophets in Amsterdam

I seem to go to a lot of bands I've already seen before. I saw Apocalyptica five times, Bromheads Jacket four, HIM and My Chemical Romance five times as well. Time for some new blood, I reckon! So we bought tickets for lostprophets.

Because we were tired, we decided to take a spot on the balcony. We had a very good view of the stage, the sound was great and we weren't pushed and shoved all over the place! Hurray! I have forgotten the name of the support act, but they were crap, so I won't waste any words on them. Luckily they only played for half an hour. The crowd was buzzing and the heat rising up to us was quite alarming. The place was packed, there was a huge roar when they entered the stage and the moshing and shoving started as soon as we could here the first guitar strums.

Lostprophets started a bit flat, but Ian found his charm-switch halfway into the set. He interacted with the audience a lot by talking to them. he jumped into the crowd no less than three times, struggling not to kill people with the microphone cord. A girl at the front asked him for some water when he took a large gulp. And she got it, a mouthful. Literally. Honestly, he took a sip, then pressed his mouth to hers and gave her the water! I bet 90% of the crowd was jealous. Male and female. Later, some guy was crowdsurfing. Ian pulled him on stage and lay on top of him while he was singing. Later he told us that the kid kept saying: "Don't be gay man, don't be gay!" He happily pulled other crowd surfers up onto the stage and sat them down at the side so they could watch the show. It was a crazy night!

Verdict: Short review, but the best gig I have been to so far this year! This band is amazing to see live! They're so energetic and Ians crazy stunts are something more frontmen should pull!
