Support act: Open Hand
Open hand were a good band live. They weren't 'amazing' or 'blew' me away, but I enjoyed their performance and found them quite interesting to listen too. Throughout their performance they spoke quite a lot to the crowd, and really got the energy flowing in the hall. I think it's good when a band talk to the crowd, instead of playing the songs and basically ignoring the fans out their that have come to see the main band. So it was nice that they got everyone going. Official website.

My Chemical Romance
I was relieved that the venue had been changed from their original venue (QMU) in Glasgow to the larger Barrowlands, which holds around 3000 people. First impressions of the venue: dark, moody, mysterious. The Barrowlands is one of the most popular places in the Glasgow scene for new and old rock bands to go perform.

Once the lights had dimmed, the madness started. People rushed from the bar area and out into the hall, some even fell over one another, it was complete chaos! The hall was swamped with young kids, and adults, the entire hall was screaming, shouting and whistling. Gerard arrived on stage wearing what looked like a bullet proof vest. Each of the band members were definitely excited in their own individual way. Give 'Em Hell Kid was the song that kick started the gig. It wasn't the best choice of song to start with, but the crowd loved it. The energy from My Chemical Romance had just started, it was brilliant.

Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Two Of Us and To The End were absolutely brilliantly performed. They were about to start another song when Gerard stopped to speak to the crowd. One of the mosh pits had gotten out of hand, and people had fallen down onto the floor, while others landed down on top of them. He urged for them to be helped and picked back up from the ground. The crowd had fallen silent at that point, and that's when the worry set in that people had been seriously injured. Gerard opened our eyes when he spoke to everyone about suicide. He said that if you're depressed, talk to your friends and family about it, and don't keep it inside as it doesn't help you one bit.

You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison was one of the best performed songs of the night. Everyone was singing along and going mad. The band was loving the attention, and the crowd for that matter. The fans that had been queuing all day, had finally got into the full swing of the gig, it was worth it for all. Our Lady Of Sorrows, was fantastic, and even though not everyone knew the song, they loved it and went crazy. Gerard kept talking to the crowd throughout the gig, and before the next song started he said - Do you want to live forever? He screamed it once more and that's when you knew it was the slow, steady beat of The Ghost Of You. Absolutely brilliant live that song, they did a tremendous job of it. He then went on and said - That's the quiet part of the show out of the way, now onto the heavier side - and then started I Never Told You What I Do For A Living. The place was in madness! Everyone was loving this band perform, they couldn't get enough.

The mosh pits were going crazy during Thank You For The Venom. Fans were running from the back barrier, to try and get to the front for this song. Gerard then went on and spoke about High school, and that no one should take shit from anybody. His hints gave it away, and everyone knew what song was next. Fans from all corners this time, were desperate to get down the front before - I'm Not OK (I promise) started. The crowd was in full swing. Fans were falling over fans, but soon were trying to help each other to their feet once more, just like Gerard had told them earlier. The energy and excitement coming from Frank was clear to see! At one point, Mikey looked quite terrified of him. The guy was rolling all over the place! Ray had his large hair bouncing as always, and was enjoying the gig as much as everyone else was.

Once I'm Not OK had finished the band said their thanks and left the stage, only to return a few minutes later finish with Helena. It was amazing, awesome, brilliant, and fantastic. One thing that disappointed others was that it was a short performance, and they only came back for one song, and not for a couple more. But the fans didn't leave disappointed, they left with buzzing with the energy My Chemical Romance had give them.

Verdict: All in all a brilliant night. My Chemical Romance is a powerful band to see live. You will not be disappointed.
