Music dvd review: Immagine in Cornice - Pearl JamWhile shopping in Amsterdam we (Imre and I) happened upon Immagine in Cornice. We heard and saw it a music store and of course were sold. We could barely contain our tears seeing and hearing Eddie Vedder sing “Throw you’re arms around me”. Goosebumps rose all over my body as brilliant music and Ed’s voice always seem to do to me after that first gig of them we went to last year. Of course we couldn’t resist. Immagine in Cornice was filmed during last years tour. There were rumours of the band releasing a DVD of the Italian gigs of which no downloadable bootlegs would be released as Pearl Jam did of the other dates during that tour. Those rumours have proven to be true. But this isn’t simple concert registration, its more like a documentary about Pearl Jam touring Italy. It shows behind the scenes activities, Eddie practicing Italian (very sexy) and in between gigs sightseeing shots, including Boom Gaspar playing the organ in a church! This all gives the viewer a unique perspective. It almost is like you were there after watching this one. This entire DVD is an artistic masterpiece. The way it is edited and of course the band’s playing and Ed’s singing is absolutely awesome as always. The first track is Severed Hand one of my favourites of their latest album and continue along with Life Wasted, “Even Flow, Better Man and Comeback and more. Added as a bonus are A Quick One, the goose bump raising Throw Your Arms Around Me and all time magical closing track Yellow Ledbetter. Everytime I watch Eddie Vedder, I can’t help thinking about how there’s no one who can compare with him. There’s no one who sings with his entire body and soul like he does. But back to the DVD. I can only say that this was one of my favourite music DVD’s from the first minute I played it. Even though I was a bit confused at first, because it starts just like it was cult film. But don’t let yourself be fooled. This is a Pearl Jam DVD as it should be. Verdict: Love Pearl Jam? Buy this DVD! It’ll help you pass the time while waiting for their next visit to your area. |
