[editor, regular reviewer, co-founder, site owner]
Hi all! I am Imre and I'm the one responsible for all that goes on here. I live in Groningen in the north of the Netherlands - which is very inconvenient when all the good gigs are in Amsterdam - and music is my life. Because I can't play instruments or sing (which I only do when I think no-one can hear me), and listening to music just isn't enough, I write about it. A lot. The Bullet was founded in November 2004, together with my mate Sarah. The complete story of this can be read here. My parents both are music lovers too and I grew up listening to U2, The Doors and David Bowie. Even today the radio or a cd is always playing at my mum's house. My favourite bands include Pearl Jam, Placebo, HIM, Incubus, Institute, Apocalyptica, Bromheads Jacket, My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds To Mars and Infadels. To get away from the computer I spend time with my two Icelandic horses. Apart from The Bullet, I co-own the best My Chemical Romance forum you will ever find. If you have any questions, or want to contact me about something, e-mail me at imre@thebulletreviews.com.
Sarah [co-founder]
Hi there. My name is Sarah, I live in Cardiff, that is the capital of Wales (England, turn left.) Being brought up in a musical family I have been surrounded by bands since day dot. Most of those early years was spent having to listen to the practicing in the living room with my mother tutting in the kitchen. As I got older I took note of the fact that these noisy sods actually played some good stuff when out of the house and the young Sarah was introduced to rock and roll. I first picked up the guitar when I was about 5 and was told that when my fingers were big enough to go around the neck I could learn to play. These days I am a student, and I barely pick up my guitar. But I still love music and although I have lost the hunger to be a musician I appreciate music on a level that is slightly different.
Annika [occasional reviewer]
Well, I am Annika, an occasional writer for The Bullet Reviews. I live in Hoorn, the Netherlands. Music is one of the most important things in my life. I need it. My all-time favourites are Pearl Jam, HIM, Apocalyptica and Placebo. But I like so much more. Next to music books, films and chocolate (with almonds) are the things that keep me going. Fave writer is Anne Rice, fave movie is changing every month. But at this moment it is Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amelie Poulain. I am proud of my two tattoos and actually want more. When people tell you getting a tattoo is addicting, believe them! You’ll be hooked the moment the needle leaves your skin. And as Metallica (among others) once said: Carpe Diem baby! Before I forget: Biggest dream be a Parisian or Canadian Bullet reporter!
Katey [occasional reviewer]
My name is Katey, and I’m a single mum of a 2 year old girl called Alexia. At the moment we’re living in a home up on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia, about an hour north of Sydney. I grew up on Sydney’s northern beaches, which is a very rich, upper class area (and totally unlike me!). Music has always been very important to me. My first memories of music are of my dad playing Queen and Meatloaf on our old record player (he still has that player and the records!). I’ve tried to play several instruments in the past (flute, saxophone, piano, guitar) but have found my best instrument to be my voice. Rock, metal, punk, emo, Aussie indie and alternative are my genres of choice. Loud, proud and lots of raw talent!
Malin [occasional reviewer]
Hi there! My name is Malin, and I’m an occasional writer of film reviews for The Bullet. I love sharing my feelings about a movie with others; it’s a good way of showing yourself to a public. I don’t fancy a particular type of movies; I’m pretty much into anything. Of course there are boundaries to my ability of watching a movie, there are things I just can’t stand, but I’m always willing to give it a try. In my opinion you watch a movie to get an experience, and whether that’s a good or a bad one always remains to be seen, so let’s cut the crap and just go to the cinema.
Liam [regular reviewer]
Hi, I’m Liam and I’m a 18 year old college student from England. As common with most teenage boys, my main interests are music and sports, music being very important to me! As musical taste goes, my favourite bands are Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Funeral For A Friend, Panic! At The Disco, Blink 182, Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs. Favourite albums include Warning (Green Day), Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge (MCR) and Take Off Your Pants And Jacket (Blink 182), and my favourite song is Imagine by John Lennon. I love gigs, and go to as many as possible, including one or two festivals this year. Other than music, I enjoy sports (especially football), I’m very keen on television, especially The Simpsons and Family Guy, I like to draw (comics and cartoons especially) and wish to study Geography at University this year. Those are the basics of me! Good to be here!
Jess [regular reviewer]
Hey there! My name is Jessica, or Jess for short as most know me as. I’m currently 19 years old, Hispanic, and live in Jacksonville, Florida in the United States with my family. I’m attending college in order to get a degree in Psychology; however, I’m not sure as to what exactly what job I want when I get the degree. I work at Blockbuster Video, due to my interest in movies and video games. My growing openness makes me loveable there. Lol! When I’m not at school or working to pay school, among other things, you’ll find me online on the My Chemical Romance Forum (ran by Imre and Lisette) where I’m a Senior Moderator. I’m a music addict, mainly rock, and love going to gigs when I can. Reading is another addiction of mine and writing is next to it (when I find the time). I guess that’s the gist of what makes me... me. Let’s get to reviewing! Hehe!
Romana [MySpace maintainer, regular reviewer]
Hi! My name is Romana and I’m also occasionally helping out Imre with The Bullet. I’ve been a fan of good rock music (and lately especially Finnish rock) ever since I can remember. Being born in this small country of Slovenia hasn’t stopped me from wanting to see the bands that I love live – if they don’t come here (and some of them actually do!), I come to them - I make a small holiday out of the trip and meet up with friends along the way! My very first concert was Nirvana in '94 when I was (only) 15 and since then I’ve seen quite a lot of my favorite bands (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, The Rasmus, My Chemical Romance, Placebo, Apocalyptica, Nightwish, HIM, Siddharta...) in different countries all over Europe already and I don’t plan to stop doing that anytime soon. There are still plenty of bands out there for me to see (and write about) and hopefully I’ll be able to combine that with my other love, the love for Finland, as often as I can, and go see some of them there.
Nick [regular reviewer]
Hey, I’m Nick, I’m 17 and I come from the UK. I live on Canvey Island, famed for being flooded, not one of the best things to be famous for. Ever since early on in my life music has been a big influence to me. There have been songs that have changed the way I see and think about things, and when I find songs like that, its something special. I listen to a very wide and very random variety of music but my focus is normally around rock and metal. I’m studying A Levels in English Language and Literature, ICT and psychology. At the moment I have no plans for the future, but whatever happens I would like to keep rocking and writing.
Megan [regular reviewer]
Hi everyone! My name is Megan, and I'm 18 years old. I currently live in Beavercreek, Ohio in the United States, where I am attending college to study Journalism. I am an assistant manager at Subway, and I really enjoy it mostly because my boss doesn't mind me taking off to go to concerts constantly! Music is very important to me, and some of my favorite bands are My Chemical Romance, Paramore, and Cute is What We Aim For. Other than music, I also love watching movies, going shopping, and lurking around the My Chemical Romance Forum, where I'm a moderator.
Laurel [regular reviewer]
Laurel is a struggling science fiction and horror writer who very recently finished draft one of her first novel. Her three passions are books, movies and music, and she loves pointing out the flaws and fabulousness of both—hence the tendency to write reviews. She currently still lives at home, with her mother, stepfather, two dogs, and a myriad of fictional characters yet to see the light of day. Her New Year's Resolution for 2009 is to learn how to walk gracefully in high heels.
Hannah [former reviewer]
Hi there, my name is Hannah. I’m a 17 year old student from the UK, hoping to study English at university next year. Not surprisingly, I have a passion for music, mostly rock and indie, but I’ll give anything a listen. I love going to gigs, although I don’t go to them as often as I’d like; hopefully that will all change when I pass my driving test! Another love of mine is fashion, I work part time in a clothes shop and spend most of the money I earn on clothes and music. Of course, I
also love to write, and can’t wait to get reviewing!
Meshawn [guest reviewer]
Obligatory office drone by day, wishful rock star/master of horror by night. That’s me. I lead a pretty mundane life all the way over here in a mid-western state of America—as a promotional writer for a publishing company. I like anything that has to do with film—and I’m an elitist when it comes to the genre of horror. Splat pack fans unite! I’ll be an occasional 'doomy' movie/music reviewer for The Bullet. So if you’re thinking about seeing something scary, check with me first. I also enjoy dining on raw meat every now and then, sacrificing newborn children to our almighty King Lucifer, and incessantly playing Black Sabbath’s ‘Black Sabbath’ over and over desperately searching for hidden messages. Just kidding on that last part!
Cynthia [guest reviewer]
Hi! My name is Cynthia and I currently live in south Texas. I am working on finishing my degree in Theater/T.V./Film with a minor in English. I LOVE anything “artsy” and I’m the one you’d want on your Trivial Pursuit team because I know lots of 'useless information', like what planet ALF was from. You know, the cute furry alien from Melmac? Anyway, I play the piano, saxophone, some guitar chords, sing and I like to dabble in illustrations and fashion. Making a difference and helping good causes makes me smile. As you can see, I pride myself on being different, like listening to everything from classical to indie to hardcore and being 'scene' because even though I am unique... that’s what makes me... ME! Rock on!
Patty [former reviewer]
I am Patty and I live in the Netherlands, in the tiniest village on the face of the planet. It is nowhere near Amsterdam where all the good stuff happens, but I try to catch as many gigs as I can. I am currently employed as a superhero: ridding the world of bigotry, ignorance, bad spelling and even worse taste one idiot at a time. I am the biggest anglophile you'll ever meet and hop across the pond to visit the UK whenever I have a chance - or the cash. My musical tastes range from Echo and the Bunnymen, My Chemical Romance and the Cure via The Beatles, Madonna and Edward Elgar to Michael Nyman, The Pixies and Beethoven, with the occasional German softporn soundtrack thrown in. My obsessions include: Coffee, cigarettes, MAC cosmetics, zombies, Victoriana, Neil Gaiman, Chuck Palahniuk, Spaced, Christian Bale, P.G. Wodehouse and Dr Who.
